"Chef and Artist Jim Denevan creates freehand drawings in the sand, often with nothing more than a found stick and a rake. His monumental drawings are temporary, created in areas which will soon be reshaped by wind or water."

I would suggest, after learning all 12 major triads (Cmaj, C#maj, Dmaj.......Bmaj) that you should learn the minor versions of these 12.

This is not very difficult, if you have Fmajor for example, you take the third (A) and flatten it by one semi-tone, to give Ab. This gives you F, Ab and C, this if Fminor.

This can be done with any major chord, just flatten the 3rd and you will get the minor.

Afterwards, i would suggest learning what are called dominant 7th chords...such as G7, or F7.

Basically, the simplest way to learn these is to take the chord you have, such as Gmajor...and then count down two semi-tones from the note of the chord (G) and add that note to the chord.

In this example you would have Gmaj (G, B, D) and count down two semi-tones from G to F, and add it on. This gives you F, G, B, D, which is G7.

Then, you can flatten the 3rd (B) to make give you a minor7th chord..., such as F, G, Bb, D, which is Gm7...

Others such as 5, 6, -5, 6/9, maj9, sus2 are not particularly useful, but do appear sometimes, unfortunately they do not follow any particular set pattern on how they work, there are exceptions and different rules...if there are any particular ones which you would really like to know i would be glad to help though :)
