Bernie Asked:

Hi

Where to find mini garden tools for gardening indoors in pots? I had a little set when I was younger. It had a little rake about 1 1/2″ wide, plus one wide and one skinny trowel. It was just perfect for gardening in the house, for herb pots and the like. I would like another one, if possible with more things.

Thank you in advance

Dutch Garden tools?

Joan Asked:

Can anyone reccomend the best dutch garden tools for cutting down large bushes stumps and also up rooting them ?

Reply:

It all depends on how much you have to do, and how valuable you consider your time.
The cheap way: axe, garden saw ( coarse teeth), pickaxe spade etc, and an awful lot of HARD WORK.
The easy way: hire a small excavator from your local Homebase, garden centre etc. and have a fun weekend, digging stuff out and filling a skip or two. ( Hippo bags might be cheaper – check the costs). With an excavator, you will probably get lots of offers of help from friends (male). Best of luck, and enjoy !

Kenny Asked:

I want to take advantage of the remainders of pruning gardens, and to turn it in to covers of different colors for flowerpots and gardens in general. Crushing everything and to add the necessary colorants, insecticides and fertilizers. what products would I have to add for its better results.
thanks

Dry it first. Then use regular vegetable dye. Your ordinary insecticides and fertilizer you use for the flowers and garden plants will suffice, and the mulch will prevent evaporation and runoff. Depending on the mulch, you may need to measure ph every year, or estimate adding just a little bit of lime.

Lorine Asked:

I have several stihl garden tools that have rust on them for many years.how do i remove the rust and keep them rust free?

Reply:

Well, since you didn’t say how rusty they really are, there are several methods. For heavy rust, mechanically cleaning with a power wire brush might be necessary or a hand powered wire brush which is much more work. There are several products that will remove rust, one being Naval Jelly. You just spread it on and wait – follow the directions on the bottle. Iron Out is another product. Your local hardware store or auto parts store may have other products that do the same thing.
After all the rust is removed, the tools must be cleaned, dried, and then sprayed with a rust prevention product like WD-40.
Otherwise a good paint job is required but paint wears off with each use.
Good luck.
